My priorities are simple:

people and the planet

Right now, Dutchess is growing haphazardly, with green spaces being eaten up for new self-storage while malls lie vacant, and with large new developments built where roads can’t handle the traffic.  We need to be more thoughtful about where and how we build.  As your legislator, I will work to ensure that we build on previously developed sites before we clear new green space, and that the new housing we desperately need is connected by sidewalks and bike paths, and served by public transit.  If we are intentional, we can keep Dutchess beautiful while building walkable, connected communities where people want to live.

Infrastructure and Transit

Support for Families

Our families support us as individuals and build our community; but Dutchess families face real challenges – from rising housing prices and taxes that make it hard for young people to stay in the county and for seniors to stay in their homes, to a lack of affordable childcare and eldercare options, to inadequate mental health services when someone faces a crisis. As your legislator, I will be laser-focused on solving these problems, so Dutchess remains a place where families grow and thrive together.

Opportunities for Youth

The world is transitioning to a cleaner, greener economy, with exploding demand for skilled workers – from solar installers to HVAC retrofitters to electrical engineers.  As your legislator, I will make sure that BOCES and Dutchess County Community College offer our young people the skills and education they need to seize these opportunities, so they can prosper in the new economy and make their communities cleaner and healthier.

As your legislator, I will fight to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to flourish in a sustainable world.
